The Bunny Man

A crazed former patient at a mental asylum living under a bridge murdering little bunnies and hanging them in trees? Killing passersby without motive of dark nights? This has all the trappings of a truly weird story. But did any of it happen? Are the people of Clifton, VA in imminent danger?

Dad’s thoughts:
Okay, so we found a weird one here for sure. A mental patient in a bunny suit terrorizing people and living under a bridge has to be the weirdest thing I’ve heard in a while. Of course it’s all nonsense. I had never heard about this “Bunny man” until we found it, but it only took me about 10 minutes to figure out what was going on here.
There never was an insane asylum in Clifton. So the entire story about the bunny man in the early 1900’s is completely bogus. However, there was a crazy person in a bunny suit running around Fairfax county in the 1970’s. I would imagine that’s where the entire legend actually began. Some kid probably tried to scare some other kid and the story got retold enough times to finally take a solid form in an urban myth.
My conclusion is that there is no bunny man, but there are crazies out there. And really do we need to inflate the stories? I mean wouldn’t a guy, strapped into a bunny suit and running around screaming at people with a knife or hatchet in the 1970’s have been enough?
